Description:

WHAT WE DO

We are an independent charity affiliated to the Age Concern Federation. We serve everyone "growing older" in the Town, attracting them to join in our activities, and contribute time and talents to the organisation.
We have over 100 active volunteers and usually have around two dozen vacancies at any one time. Our volunteers are our "ambassadors" in the workplace and in the community.

Our work is organised in three strands:

1, Information services at 9 Clark’s Yard, Darlington (01325 357345) Open 9.30a.m. to 3.30p.m. weekdays.

Assistance with benefits and pensions claims, and information and advice on a wide variety of topics.
Insurance available for household, motor, motor breakdown, and travel risks. We also sell competitively priced electricity and gas through Powergen, and funeral plans. "50plus Insurance" operates in compliance with Financial Services Authority regulations.

2. Care services at Bradbury House, Beaumont Street West (01325 362832) open 9a.m. to 4p.m. weekdays.

Day Care for older or infirm people 65+ every week-day.
"PALS@50plus" for older people 50+ with significant support needs (Wednesdays only)

Domiciliary services for housebound older people, or older people with short-term needs (e.g. following hospital discharge) centred around the provision of assisted bathing. This service is registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection.

We can assist you with a referral to adult Social Services Department for a supported place.

Lunch Club (Mondays only) provides lunch, entertainment, games and interests for more mobile older people

We are constantly exploring further ways of providing services to support older people in independent living, whether at Bradbury House, or in the community.
