| Message/Mission statement: The people we see are of all ages, coming from all social and ethnic backgrounds, and from all parts of the U.K. Our present services include: · individual face-to-face therapy sessions at our Rugby offices. Our clients include children, emergency services personnel, together with civilians who have suffered a traumatic incident(s); · a Specialist Children’s Counsellor to attend to the individual needs of children and young people; · two national telephone helplines; · Early Intervention work to companies and organisations whose staff have suffered a traumatic incident. |
| Description: ASSIST Trauma Care is the only charity in the UK that provides evidence-based therapy for those suffering the effects of psychological trauma, in particular Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). P.T.S.D. is defined as an illness or disorder that is triggered by an emotionally distressing event that is outside the range of normal human experience – for example road traffic accidents, house fires, violent attacks, natural disasters, terrorist activity and traumatic bereavement |
